Data Cabling is key to every organisation, it connects the technologies we all rely on each day, whether it be your computers, phones, printers or wireless access points, they all rely on your network cabling for access to data and sometimes even power! That’s why it’s vital that your cabling is designed and installed correctly.
Tidey’s have been installing data cabling into a variety of organisations nationwide for over 35 Years. We deliver projects to all industries from SMEs through to the Public Sector such as the MOJ,Central Government & Healthcare.

Our management team who collectively have over 30 years’ experience in the design of Structured cabling projects will go through your requirements and offer a comprehensive design allowing a seamless end to end solution to the latest EN 11801 and 50173 standards
Our team are fully trained to install & terminate data cabling ranging from Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a all the way to Cat 7. We are certified Leviton and Excel network solutions specialists with expertise in different cabling types such as U/UTP and S/FTP.
All of our works are tested using the latest industry standard Fluke Network testers. Accompanied by Fluke Linkware test certificate.
Whether you’re looking for a small wall mounted cabinet or a large server cab suite, our team have experience in all type of installations.
We can design, install and move any type of comms rack, cabinet or SOHO type units.
We use the leading manufacturers in the industry from Excel Networking, Prism, Orion, APC Netshelter to name a few….
Case Study
For Cambridge County Council we were tasked to upgrade their existing comms cabinets through-out their business premises to allow Virgin Media Business’s new network kit to fit.
This involved:
Sometimes IT just haven’t got the time to make sure that the comms cabinets are kept in pristine order, and this can lead to accidental disconnections, confusion on what is patched into existing equipment and limited space due to trailing leads.
Let us assist you in turning your comms room into something that’s works for your business.
Here’s some of the ways we can help:
We offer the following types of testing to our clients:
Verification testing
For those times where you have existing cabling and need to make sure it has been terminated correct.
Performance Testing
We can check the throughput speed of your existing cabling to see what performance you can achieve. This is handy for when you have new equipment that needs to run at a certain port speed.
Installations
All our installations are certified correctly to BICSI TIA/ANSI Standards
Industry Standards
We only use the best industry standard testers for certifying our work (Fluke).
To comply with CDM 2015 all our installation starts with a network layout drawing this helps in several ways, whether it’s understanding the amount of data points that the customer may need or discussing with our engineers how certain cables need to be routed and installed. This gives the customer peace of mind that when we come to installing the structured cabling it is what they envisaged from the start.
If you’re not sure what cabling system you may need (i.e. Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a or Cat7) then let us guide you through developing a specification for your project.
Why us?
We currently provide data services for small- or large-scale IT companies that need to expand temporarily to meet project demands and timescales. This works may involve the following:
We issue a 25 year manufacturers warranty*, when using excel networking cable systems.
The customer will be issued a manufacturers certificate of quality on completion.
*warranty for manufactures products only.
Our WiFi predictive design tool offers a cost effective and practical solution to estimate your site requirements. This is useful for new buildings, allowing your network to be planned prior to moving into the building.
By utilising detailed building plans, we can provide a robust recommendation of hardware requirements and access points for maximum WiFi coverage.
There are two types of WiFi surveys that we offer, Active and Passive.
Active Survey
An Active survey involves an Ekahau certified engineer to conduct an “AP on stick” survey. This is a manual survey where the engineer will walk around the building with the access point on a stick to assess the coverage and strength of the signal. This allows for a detailed analysis on any external interference with the access point and gives an accurate reading of how efficient the WiFi will be.
Based on these findings, the engineer creates an access point location plan using heatmaps to focus on each points’ coverage capability and highlight any potential interference.
This type of survey provides a more in-depth insight into network connectivity and performance.
The WiFi adapter receives and sends packet information simultaneously to investigate and decipher any network issues.
Passive Survey
A Passive survey is performed to get an understanding of signal strengths, noise levels and an SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) on-site. We can analyse, report, and inform you of any potential issues and then provide a solution to strengthen your WiFi signal.
Project Resource
We work closely with existing IT personnel to assist with any project works where their DS resource base needs to be expanded temporarily to meet project time scales. These works may include, but not limited to:

Our customer to NSTA needed a brand-new data infrastructure for some new offices that they were due to move into in Scotland. Our team travelled up to Aberdeen and installed 200+ Excel Cat6a data cables underneath the new false floor. This comprised of GOP box and floor box terminations into a two new 42U excel 800 x 1000 server cabinets.
Installation details:
Our customer BEIS needed moves and changes to their existing floor, this involved moving power and data services to new desk positions and re-wiring parts of the floor to help with added capacity needed.
Our team re-routed existing Cat6 GOP location underneath the floor and installed additional data cabling through-out. We then terminated the new cabling in 6-way Excel GOP boxes and mounted them to the underside of desk trays.
All works tested using a Fluke DSX5000 cable tester.
Our team was brought in to survey the existing network at Henlow Lakes, within our investigation we found a mixture of communication methods and poorly run cables. A lot of the infrastructure cabling had been run over the 90metres BISCI TIA/ANSI standards causing network dropouts and communication problems.
We installed a full OS2 24c backbone between all of their core buildings and upgraded the existing network switches to Cisco CBS350 network switches. Our network team added port security to each switch and rebuilt the main R1 router for 5Gb incoming traffic.
We have since extended this network to all the outbuildings using 8c and 12c OS2 fibre adding resiliency.
